Orientation
Orientation is a time to prepare new students for the adjustments they need to make to live in New Zealand.
The first part of your orientation is held during the first week of your attendance at Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School.
- We welcome you to the students in your form class and introduce you to all the International Staff and Upper School Staff
- We show you around the facilities at Raphael House.
- Assess your ability in the English language
- We organize your timetable
During orientation we will explain:
- Living in a New Zealand home
- New Zealand food
- The Laws of New Zealand
- School expectations (see Link)
- School dress code (see Link)
- Time management and your Assignments
- Term holidays
- Managing your finances if necessary
- How to become involved in school activities
English Proficiency
The school seeks to recruit students who have adequate English language skills to enable them to follow regular classes, and complete homework assignments and courses they will pursue.
It is important that International Students entering the college show evidence of a solid grounding in English Language. (The student’s English language skills will be assessed through a locally-developed test as soon as practicable after enrolment, but within one week of the student’s first day at Raphael House, and students may work on an English language programme instead of German classes.)
