When I came to NZ first time and met my homestay family in airport, I could have only say "Nice to meet you" even I practiced a speech during the long flight. Homestay parents kindly talked to me on the way to their and my new home. However, I hardly understood what they were saying.
Learning language can not have be done without actual experiences as same as the other subjects. And of course you need a companion to use, practise and sometime be tought that language. It will be really nice if that person was kind, friendly, helpful and humorous.
This is my third year of spending time in Raphael House. I think my english improved compare to the first time I came to NZ. It is because Raphael House has been full of people who I just described: kind, friendly, helpful and homorous. All the people helped my english improved and made my time in NZ really fun. I'm glad that I chosed this school and I hope I can stay in this school until next year - the last year of school.

I studied at Raphael House for 10 months. When I first arrived in New Zealand I could hardly speak a word of English despite having learnt the language for a few years in Japan. Also I found it hard to get used to the different lifestyle, culture and school, just about everything. However in a couple of month time I made the adjustment nicely. Everyone was so kind and supportive and helped me whenever I needed help.
At the beginning of the year we went on a camp. I really enjoyed walking in New Zealand’s beautiful nature. During the year we, Class 11, did so many events such as Talent Show and Ball. I had so much fun.
Studying at Raphael House has been a great experience for me. Everything is so different from Japan – culture, school, customs etc. I will never forget this year.
Thank you so much everyone.
